Tourist Destination
In Novo Milosevo

Since several years The Community of Novo Milosevo in the Central Banat district of the Autonomus Province Vojvodina in Serbia is trying hard to initiate tourism. The project team has formulated a development mission for the establishment of a Tourist Destination in Novo Milosevo. The Community of Novo Milosevo is starting from the zero-level and focuses development efforts on thermal water and the old Karačonji Castle as the main tourist attraction of the town.

Thermal Water

A specific drilling project is now under preparation by Hidrozavod DTD and their study "The project of a detailed hydro-geological research of thermo mineral water in the area Novo Milosevo", at the area of Karačonji Castle, suggests the two deep investigation bore holes. The research should proof the expected existence of thermal water and determine its quantity, temperature and quality for a possible use in modern spa bathing, balneology and curative applications and thermal energy exploitation.

Karačonji Castle

The most important touristic attraction of Novo Milosevo is the historic Karačonji Castle which was built in 1857 by Lajoš Karačonji as a representative residential property in classical style. In front of the castle as part of the entrance there is a French park of 0.8 ha and behind the castle a wide English park of 4 ha. On 2500 m2 foor space the castle itself had several apartments, a dance hall, a large library, water supply and a wastwater system, own telephone exchanges and was fitted with stylish and expensive furniture. At present, the castle as well as the park is in poor shape and would need an extensive restoration program for a further use. The old corn storehouse opposite is already renovated as museum with the help of public renovation programs.

The natural resources of the thermal water in Novo Milosevo, which will most probably be found in the necessary flow rate and temperature, shall be starting point and centrepiece of the development and the establishment of tourist destination. The "Strategy of Tourism development in Serbia" is giving highest priority to destination spas and resort/hotel spas in the Vojvodina. The spa development study for the Vojvodina has identified Novo Milosevo as potential spa destination.

Development of a Destination

Development and establishment of a Tourist Destination in Novo Milosevo based on a modern and state-of-the-art Thermal Wellness Spa Resort as the key project triggering further complimentary offers. The five development phases cover infrastructural basics, the wellness spa resort as the key project, the Karačonji Castle with castle park and storehouses and possible further touristic offers and accommodation projects.

Phase I

Development Basics and Infrastructural requirements like conceptual development, securing of the land, thermal drilling and geothermic power plant, bypass road and access road, public infrastructure supply, parking, renovation of castle park and castle exterior.

Phase II, III

Wellness Spa Resort (development of the key project) and Karačonji Castle (redevelopment and renovation of the castle and its facilities).

Phase IV, V

Complementary Offer (development of further tourist infrastructurac offer) and Additional Accommodation (development of further accommodation projects in the tourist zone, according to destination growth).

Touristic Development Zone

This Touristic Development Zone is split into a "Touristic Core Zone" around the Karačonji Castle and enlargement zones on adjoining land towards the new bypass respectively within the inner-township area.

Touristic Core Zone

Central touristic area with the touristic core offer of the destination of phase 1 and 2, with a total of 32.7 hectares of land.

Touristic Enlargement Zone

Open land towards the bypass road with a total of approx. 185 hectares of land.

Inner-Township Tourism Zone

Private properties and houses on both sides of the main street, to be developed as inner-township touristic zone through improvements of roads, houses and facades, limited agricultural use and the development of private touristic offers in accommodation, food "& beverages, local products and similar.
